We all strive for accomplishment, though what that looks like is different for each of us. For me, it meant being a mother to three incredible boys, a devoted wife, an athlete, and serving in my dream career as a professional Firefighter and Critical Care Paramedic. My faith, instilled in me by my father, was always my foundation. On June 18, 2020, a trampoline accident left me paralyzed from the neck down. After four months in the hospital, I was told I had less than 3% chance of regaining movement below my neck. While I had lost physical control of my body, I had not lost the ability to choose my mindset or my future. I believed then, and still believe, that God is the ultimate physician, and my story was not finished.
Through activity-based rehabilitation and intensive strength training at The Fieldhouse Gym in Abilene, I committed to working two hours a day, five days a week. As a lifelong athlete, I understood discipline and perseverance. Over time, I began to regain movement. Six years later, I have recovered significant arm function and partial movement in my legs, progress that once seemed impossible. That journey revealed a harsh reality: access to advanced rehabilitation is often limited and financially out of reach for individuals living with paralysis, limb loss, or neurological injury.
In response, I founded Greater Than Three Outreach to remove those barriers. Our mission is to provide activity-based rehabilitation at no cost, fostering not only physical recovery but also hope, resilience, and community. Through weekly adaptive training and monthly adaptive sports opportunities, we empower individuals to pursue more than their diagnosis. We believe recovery is not limited by prognosis, but expanded by faith, determination, and community, because together, we are greater than our circumstances.
